Week Three Reflection-

14^th March- 20^th March

This week I intended to create my storyboard, animatic and background design. This was the main week I was worried about as I felt that I was trying to do so much in such a short span of time but overall, I think this week went smoothly and I was able to get all the work done efficiently and to a high standard. On the Monday, I started off by using my sketchbook and just mind mapping and creating thumbnail sketches in it about what my story might be, I was still slightly worried as I had so many ideas about what the story could be but none of them were refined so it was stressful that the story might feel a bit flat and unrefined. I decided that on the Tuesday I was going to start doing my Background Design to allow some story ideas to flow and let me refine ideas in my head. For the background design I did a lot of primary drawing to help me and fortunately enough this process only took me the Tuesday to create fortunately as I stayed up late to ensure I would keep on top of things. Tuesday was also the day in which I had my seminar group. This week was still a bit quiet from my other member, but I used the time to show my character design work and to discuss my potential story ideas and what might work. This session was quite nice as me and two other members had a nice discussion about the sort of conventions that work in this genre and what sort of violence is funny within the genre I am looking at and I really feel that this helped my thought process about the story develop. On Wednesday I then started to think about storyboarding, so I went to the library to focus and get my first draft done. Having the Tuesday to process my ideas really helped and I went to the library with a lot of ideas that I could then refine. By the end of the day, I had a very rough draft of the story. I spent the rest of the week finalising the storyboards and putting it into an animatic. I also had to find sounds for my animatic which was a challenge but due to the nature of me wanting to make my own music I just put place holder audio to give the vibe I wanted. Overall, this week has been good and gone to plan. Although I have had a couple of late nights and continued to work through the weekend, I am happy that I managed to work hard enough to get these long tasks done quickly but also to a very high standard I am happy with. I have been really pushing myself to get this work done and I’m hoping that it shows in my final piece. Although I’m feeling very tired, I’m hoping that next Week goes to plan. I’m slightly worried as it involves animating and I’m worried that I’m being ambitious with my ideas but I know I am very good at setting my standards so that I can create something within my skillset and I am a very hard worker so fingers crossed it all goes well.
