Animatic

For my final animatic, I used my story board and compiled the images to create a one minute film. I also used copyright free sound to get an idea of what the final piece would sound like, this is quite a challenging process as realistically I would've wanted to have done some Foley sound design, but I didn't really have the resources or time to do so. I think that the final animatic has worked pretty well as the story is easy to follow and the timings work for the most part. I do think that I could've held on some scenes for longer. For instance at the end with the bullies hung up on the tree, i feel would work better comedically if you really got to sit and watch them struggling but I understand that I did this due to the fact that I had to one minute limit. I do think that using digital software to create the frames for the animatic was very beneficial, it saved my a lot of time when having to render out small little details such as a head movement, and I also think it has helped for the continuity of the animatic to be clear and therefore the story is much easier to understand. I know that it is an animatic so sound effects aren't going to be at their best, but if I were to bring this into a full animation, I definitely think I would have used Foley as a method to record sounds specifically tailored to my film as I often end up making do with the sounds that I use rather than actually being happy with the final result, but as I mentioned for an animatic the idea is conveyed very effectively. If I were to do a story again I think I would definitely go for a story that is a lot more simple as in this animation I have three transitions which are intended to show the passage of time and although I do think it works I feel there is a lot to take in, in a one minute animation but then again I do think the elements all work well together, the humour is timed perfectly so that the impact on the audience works and I feel that in an ideal world the bond between the Tiki and the smart kid could be a longer and we could see that bond grow stronger but for a one minute film I do think the emotional beats work so I'm happy overall.
