Final Film- Evaluation

The final film ended up being something that turned out really well and I think this was somewhat due to the fact that we put so much time into the storyboarding process and planned out what we wanted to do. I think that the film worked so well due to its simplicity. I think going into the animation process we knew that we only had two days that we would be able to shoot so we made sure not to be so ambitious with the animation that we were going to create and although this meant that there isn't as much animation in our final film I think that how we structured the film with shots and tension and all these other elements with 2D animation really helped to add this character to the film which is fun and exciting. If I were to do the film all over again I probably would have more elements of animation, I do feel like the end scene feels a bit rushed with the two kids chasing after the cat, and perhaps I would have drawn that out a bit longer so the final joke of it cutting to credits payed off a bit better but that all came down to time. Something I also would want to improve if we had more time would be the sound design, Having to use non copyright sound effects can often be annoying and I think with more time foley would have been something that we could of used to tailor the sounds exactly to the shots that we wanted but for the time we had and the resources I actually think that the sounds convey the message of the shots and overall improve the film without taking away from it. A great bit of feedback that was given in the critical was that the 2D animated elements in the final film should have had elements introduced earlier on in the film so that it wasn't such a shock when it came to seeing it towards the end of the film and I think this is very true, as it is such a contrasting style between the 3D set and models. The idea of paper animation was actually drawn from the original stop motion The adventures of paddington tv Show and I think within the set design perhaps we could've tried to incorporate a more 2D illustrative background where set pieces where almost drawing brought into a 3D plain so that when the 2D animation did show up it wouldn't feel so out of place but I do still really like the 2D parts none the less, it does add to a very unique film.

All in all, I think that as a group we have made something that we should all be happy with, all of our skills have been combined together to share both our artistic style as well as our voice and personality. I think every time we are given a task like this it helps me to understand what working in a group is all about and it teaches me more about what the real industry is going to be like and I think that is an effective skill to be taught.
