For this piece I decided to focus on an area of society that interested me the most focusing on our wastage of plastic. I looked at figures for the top five countries in the world, and found that China, USA, Germany, Brazil and Japan produced the most plastic. To display this I created a more stylised/visual diagram, making the bars of the graph to appear like dead fish to show how the plastic wastage is affecting ocean life. I enjoy this piece as I have managed to be quite literal with the graph using not only figures but imagery to push a message on the viewer. Instead of it just looking like bars and numbers it is more interesting sand I feel that would draw a viewer to actually look at the graph and perhaps realise a problem such as the one I have displayed here and make change. If I could change this I would want to make it more refined but I actually would quite like to make more of these, maybe have a wall of different charts which have been stylised in a way to make them more interesting pushing a message across to try and educate viewers of the work. Ill.metnion here as I probably will with many other pieces, that due to the time we had to produce our work in the communication pathway that maybe some of the work isn't as polished as I may like it to be, but I will admit that by being rushed it really pushed me just to make something and not to worry to much whether the final outcome is a masterpiece, but just to get me focused and doing something. I feel that this was a really good skill that the communication path taught me, that instead of procrastinating about what to do just try and get on with it, and if it ends up being bad then that's fine.
